NOVEMBER: A SPECIAL MONTH TO PRAY FOR THE DEPARTED SOULS
Praying for the dead is a Christian obligation. The Church devotes the month of November to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.
So May I urge all the Priests and religious to pray for the souls in purgatory and to recommend and encourage the faithful to pray
for the departed souls.
MONTHLY RECOLLECTION & SEMINAR
There will be monthly Recollection cum seminar for the month of November on 7th Nov. 2017 at Ooty and 8th Nov. 2017 at Sathy. The seminar will be guided by our auditors Mr.Mark D’Souza & Group at Ooty and Sathy. All the priests are expected to be present without fail, unless there is a grave reason with prior permission.

ASSISTANT PRIESTS’ GATHERING
The Assistant Priests of the Diocese gathered in the Bishop’s House at 10.00 A.M. on 20.10.2017. The purpose of this meeting was to ensure the on- going formation of the Assistant Priests. The meeting began with the Holy Hour and Rev. Fr. S. Antonysamy was the resource person. He shared with the Priests of his missionary experience at Solomon Islands. The Bishop exhorted them and encouraged them to attain perfection in their Priesthood through their prayerful and dedicated lives. The meeting concluded with the final prayer followed by Lunch.
SENIOR PRIESTS’ GATHERING
The Bishop called the senior priests who are 70 years old and above for a meeting on 17.10.2017 to share their experience in their priestly lives and give suggestions for the betterment of the Diocese. The senior Priests attended the meeting with enthusiasm and actively participated in the discussions. The meeting was a great opportunity to listen to the senior Priests who toiled and shaped our Diocese for the past many years. We wish them good health of mind and body.
SCHOOL FATHERS’ MEETING
The School Fathers’ Meeting was held at the Bishop’s House on 21.10.2017. The meeting began with the prayer and welcome address at 10.15 a.m. Fr. Periyanayagam, the Superintend of Schools, gave a talk on the general guidelines on the Administration of our Schools, highlighting the duties of the Correspondents, Headmasters and Teachers. Fr. S. Vincent Paul, the Legal Adviser of the Diocese, spoke on the legal issues including the safety and protection of children in our schools. Fr. Selvanathen, the Financial Administrator of the Diocese, spoke on the importance of the correct accounting and clarified certain issues on banking and other transactions. The Bishop insisted on ‘Witnessing to Christ and the Gospel through our ministry in the schools’. He appreciated them for their committed service to the students and the Diocese. He informed them that he will visit all the schools in the near future and so asked them to keep all the school records and account books up to date. He also reminded those who have not yet submitted the school details to do so at the earliest. The meeting came to an end with lunch.
EXPANSION OF UMAREDDIYUR PARISH
Considering the pastoral need of the faithful of Kittampatti village (St. Paul the Hermit’s Church), a sub-station of Budapadi till now, is canonically attached with Umareddiyur Parish with effect from the 1st of November 2017.
ERECTION OF A NEW PARISH AT CHIKKARASAMPALAYAM
To attend to the spiritual needs of the faithful in a more effective manner and for the growth of the Church, Quasi Parish of St.Antony’s Church will be canonically erected as a New Parish. This New Parish will start functioning from Sunday 12th November 2017. We pray that this new parish dedicated to St.Antony serves as a special place for prayer and centre of evangelization.

Due to pastoral need, following changes takes place in the Diocese.
1. Rev.Fr. M. X. Johnson – On leave.
2. Rev.Fr. S. Antonysamy – Parish Priest of St. Antony’s Church, Panakahalli.
3. Rev.Fr.John Joseph Stanis – First Parish Priest, St. Antony’s Church, Chikkarasampalyam.
As it is clarified many times we cannot make any change/ alteration of the entries in the Baptism Register. Please do not send the people to the Bishop’s House. It causes great difficulties for the people. Instead, direct the people to go to the nearest Notary Public in order to get a certified declaration about their names and date of birth etc…
