God has given us a new year to continue the ministry for his greater glory. We must be grateful to this great gift. We are invited to do his work with more enthusiasm in this New Year. This New Year also gives us hope for a bright future. This hope boosts our inclination to do the will of God. So,I pray for all of you that God may give you hope in the New Year to do the will of Him. I wish you a Grace filled New year.
TRANSFER OF OUR APOSTOLIC NUNCIO
His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI appointed Most Reverend Pedro López Quintana Apostolic Nuncio to Canada. He was Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal since 2003. Archbishop López Quintana succeeds Most Reverend Luigi Ventura who recently became Apostolic Nuncio to France. Archbishop Pedro López Quintana was born in Barbastro, Spain, on 27 July 1953. He was ordained priest on 15 June 1980 and Bishop on 6 January 2003.
Archbishop López Quintana entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1984 and has served in the Apostolic Nunciatures of Madagascar, the Philippines and India as well as in the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, as Assessor for General Affairs. Archbishop López Quintana holds a Doctorate in Canon Law and speaks five languages: Spanish, Italian, French, English and Portuguese.
He was with us on the occasion of our Diocesan Golden Jubilee celebrations by meeting the religious, visiting various places of our Diocese and ordained four priests for our diocese. The Diocese of Ootacamund offers its prayerful felicitations to the Apostolic Nuncio in his new assignment to Canada.
RECOLLECTION FOR YOUNG PRIESTS
This month we have monthly recollection only for the priests who have not yet completed their five years of priesthood. So, priests who have been ordained from the year 2005 should take part in this recollection without fail. The time table will be as follows:

MARRIAGE ACT BY THE TN GOVERNMENT
The state government, through an Act, has made the registration of marriages compulsory of all Indian citizens belonging to various religious in the state, with effect from November 24. A government order dated November 24 to this effect was issued by the registration department under the Tamil Nadu Marriages registration Rules 2009.
A release issued here on Monday stated that if the marriages were not registered within the prescribed time or any person who made a statement, which was false in material or contravened any previous of the Act, on conviction, would be punished. By this Act, the Inspector General of registration has been appointed as the Registrar general of Marriages, all the district registrars of marriages and all the Sub-Registrars as Registrar of Marriages.

UPDATED WEBSITE OF OUR DIOCESE
Our Diocesan website has a new look now. The website was under the updating process for the past four months and was launched on 15th December 2009. You can visit it at www.ootacamunddiocese.org. Our sincere thanks and appreciations to Mr. Vivek who has strenuously worked for the realization of this project. He has done it with international standard. I request all the fathers and the religious to visit our website and contact Fr. Secretary if there are any corrections or changes in order to update it every day. You may also contact him to publish any important programs in the parish in our website.
PRIESTS’ PARTICIPATE IN VARIOUS PROGRAMS
- Pastoral Legal Workshop:
For the Dioceses of Coimbatore, Ooty, Salem, Dharmapuri, Thanjavur and Kumbakonam the Pastoral Legal Workshop will be conducted in Coimbatore at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre on 19 & 20 January 2010. Only ten priests from each diocese can participate in the workshop. Those who want to participate in it, please contact Fr. Jayapaul, Our Diocesan Co-ordinator.
- National Level Get together of Priests:
National level get together of priests is conducted in Vailankanni from 9th to 11th February 2010. Five diocesan priest and one representative from religious have to participates in it. All the RCDP executive committee members are requested to note these dates to participated in it. I request the Religious fathers to have a discussion among yourself and tell me the name of the representative before the end of this month.
- Province Level Get-Together of Priests
As a part of Celebrating the Year of Priest, there will be Province level get-together of Priests of Madres suffragan Dioceses on 8th April 2010 at Chennai. Each diocese has to send thirty members to represent this gathering. So, those who want to participate in this gathering are requested to give your names to Msgr. Antony Swamy before end of this month to book the ticket.

- 6ஆம் தேதி பந்தலூர் புனித பிரான்சிஸ் சேவியர் ஆலயத்தில் இயக்குனர் தந்தை அருட்திரு முனைவர் அ. டென்னிஸ் அவர்கள் தலைமையில் சிறப்புத் திருப்பலி நடைபெற்ற திருப்பலிக்குப்பின் பங்குப் பேரவைப் பற்றிய கூட்டம் நடத்தப்பட்டது.
- 13 மற்றும் 20 ஆகிய இரு ஞாயிற்று கிழமைகளில் கோத்தகிரி புனித ஆரோக்கிய அன்னை ஆலயத்தில் பங்கு பேரவை பற்றிய விதிமுறைகள் வழங்கப்பட்டு பேரவை அமைப்பதற்கான ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்யப்பட்டன

- டிசம்பர் 11,12,13ஆகிய மூன்று நாட்கள் திருச்சி, மாநில மையத்தில் 5ம் கட்ட கருத்தாளர் பயிற்சி நடைப்பெற்றது. இதில் நமது மறைமாவட்டத்தைச் சேர்ந்த 6 நபர்கள் பங்கேற்றார்கள். அதில் அறநெறி, மறைத்தூதுப் பணியில் பொதுநிலையினர் திருச்சபைச் சட்டம் போன்ற பல்வேறு தலைப்புகளில் கருத்தாளர் பயிற்சி நடத்தப்பட்டது.
- டிசம்பர் 19, 20 ஆகிய தேதிகளில் திருச்சி, மாநில மையத்தில் செயற்குழு மற்றும் பொதுக்குழு கூட்டம் நடைபெற்றது. இதில் நமது மறைமாவட்ட பெண்கள் பணிக்குழு செயலர் செல்வி குணசீலா மற்றும் திரு. பிரான்சிஸ் சேவியர் ஆகியோர் பங்கேற்றனர்.

இந்த திருமணத்தயாரிப்பு வகுப்பில் வழங்கப்படும் சான்றிதழ் மூன்று வருடங்களுக்கு மட்டுமே செல்லுபடியாகும் என மக்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படி கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறேன். வரும் காலங்களில் தனி நபர்களுக்கு வகுப்புகள் எடுப்பதில் சிரமம் அதிகம் இருப்பதால் பொதுவாக நடத்தப்படுகின்ற வகுப்பகளில் கலந்து கொள்ள மக்களுக்கு அறிவுறுத்தும்படி கேட்டு கொள்கிறேன்.

- நீலவாணி கலைத்தொடர்பு நிலையம் வழங்கிய “நட்சத்திரங்கள்” என்ற கிறிஸ்துமஸ் சிறப்பு நிகழ்ச்சி உள்ளுர் தொலைக் காட்சிகளில் ஒளிப்பரப்பபட்டது. இந்நிகழ்ச்சிகளைத் தயாரிக்க உதவிய அனைத்து நல்ல உள்ளங்களுக்கும் என் மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகளைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.

25.10.09 நஞ்சநாடு இளையோருக்கான திருப்பலியும் அரைநாள் தியானமும் நடைபெற்றது.
31.10.09 மற்றும் 01.12.09 கொத்தமங்கலம் - சத்தி தாளவாடி வட்டார இளையோர் கூட்டம் தலைமைத்துவப் பயிற்சி, நடத்தப்பட்டது.
இதில் கீழ்கண்ட பங்குகளிலிருந்து 40 பேர் பங்கெடுத்தனர்.

06.11.09 – திருச்சி களப்பணியாளர் பயிற்சி நடைபெற்றது. நமது மறைமாவட்டத்திலிருந்து ஸ்டீபன் பங்கெடுத்தார்.
22.11.09 – குருசடி ஆலய இளையோர் திருப்பலி கூட்டம் நடைபெற்றது. இளையோர் இயக்கம் புதுப்பிக்கப்பட்டது.
28.11.09 – உதகை, குன்னூர் கூடலூர் வட்டாரத்திற்கான “வாழ்வுரிமை பயிற்சி இருதய ஆண்டவர் பேராலயத்தில் நடைபெற்றது, இதில் கீழ்கண்ட பங்குகளிலிருந்து 46 பேர் பங்கெடுத்தனர்.

Education Commission – Fr. Jeyapaul
- One day Retreat for the Diocesan School Teachers of Sathy and Talavadi Vicariate conducted on 28th November. It held at Anni Velankanni Shrine, Phdhu Vadavalli. 131 teachers were participated in it Rev. Fr. Raphael, the popular mission preacher led the retreat. Teachers’ dedication is very much insisted by preacher.
- On 9th December, education committee visited St. Ignatius’ Hr. Sec. School and the Primary School at Budapadi. The Committee members inspected the Academic status, infrastructures and financial situation. While appreciating the hard work and the collaborative spirit of the correspondent, Headmaster and the staff, the committee proposed recommendations and suggestions for the future growth of the Institution.

- டிச 6 -ம் நாள் பங்குத்தந்தையின் ஒத்துழைப்போடு வெலிங்டன் பாரக்ஸ் பங்கில் கிறித்தவர் வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்க தேர்தல் நடத்தப்பட்டு ஐந்து பெண்கள், ஐந்து ஆண்கள் பொறுப்பாளர்களாக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டனர். பொறுப்பாளர்கள் வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்க உறுப்பினர்களால் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டனர். உறுப்பினர் படிவமும் சந்தா தொகையும் பங்குத் தந்தையிடமிருந்து பெற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது.
- டிச 6ம் நாள் மஞ்சனக் கொரை கிளைப்பங்கில் கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்க தேர்தல் நடத்தப்பட்டு ஐந்து பொறுப்பாளர்கள் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டனர்.
- கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்க புதுவருட நாட்காட்டி (ஊயடநனெயச) இயக்க உறுப்பினர்களுக்கும், விருப்பமுள்ளவர்களுக்கும் விநியோகிக்கப்படுகிறது.
- கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்கம் உதகை வட்டார தலைவர் அருட்தந்தை அலெக்சாண்டர் அவர்கள் ஊனமுற்றோர் மறுவாழ்வு கூட்டமைப்பு நீலகிரி, ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்த கோட்டை நோக்கி பேரணி நிகழ்ச்சியை துவக்கி வைத்தார்.
- டிச 13 ம் நாள் பங்குத்தந்தையின் ஒத்துழைப்போடு பாய்ஸ்கம்பேனி பங்கில் கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்க தேர்தல் நடத்தப்பட்டு ஐந்து ஆண்கள் ஐந்து பெண்கள் பொறுப்பாளர்களாக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டனர்.
- டிச 20 ம் நாள் தவிட்டுப் பாளையம் பங்கில் கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்க தேர்தல் நடத்தப்பட்டு ஐந்து பொறுப்பாளர்கள் தேர்ந்தெடுக்ப்பட்டனர்.
- டிச 27 அன்று அருட்தந்தை வில்சன் தலைமையில் வெலிங்டன் பாரக்ஸ் பங்கில் கிறித்தவ வாழ்வுரிமை இயக்கத்தின் கொடி யேற்றுதல் விழா மிகச்சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்றது.

திருமணத்தை பதிவு செய்வதற்கான நடைமுறைகள்:
- a. திருமணத்தை பதிவு செய்வதற்கான குறிப்பாவணம் ஒவ்வொன்றும் படிவம் - ஐ இல் இருக்க வேண்டும். இதனை திருமணம் நடைபெற்ற நாளிலிருந்து 90 நாட்களுக்கு படிவம் ஐஐ இல் ஒரு விண்ணப்பத்துடன் பதிவாளரிடம் நேரில் சென்று அளிக்க வேண்டும் அல்லது அனுப்ப வேண்டும் படிவம் - ஐ மணமக்களுக்கு பதிவாளரால் இலவசமாக வழங்கப்படும்.
b. படிவம் - ஐ இல் திருமண பதிவுக்கான குறிப்பாவணத்துடன் படிவம் - ஐஐ இல் விண்ணப்பத்தை பெற்றுக்கொண்டதற்கான ஒப்புகையை பதிவாளர் அளிப்பார். - திருமணம் நடைபெற்ற நாளிலிருந்து 90 நாட்களுக்குள் குறிப்பாவணம் இரு நகல்களில் அளிக்கப்படவேண்டும். இதில் மணமக்கள், திருமணத்தை நடத்துபவர், இரு சாட்சிகள் ஆகியோர் கையொப்பமிட்டு ரூ.100ஃ- கட்டணத்துடன் (ரூபாய் நூறு மட்டும்) அனுப்ப வேண்டும்.
- திருமணப் பதிவுக்கான குறிப்பாவணம் திருமணம் நடைபெற்ற நாளிலிருந்து 90 நாட்களுக்குள் அளிக்கப்படாவிட்டால் அல்லது அனுப்பப்படாவிட்டால் மணமக்கள் 90 நாட்கள் கால அளவு முடிடைந்தப் பின்னர், மேற்கொண்டும் 60 நாள் கால அளவுக்குள் ரூ.150ஃ- கட்டணத்துடன் (ரூபாய் நூற்று ஐம்பது மட்டும்) குறிப்பாவணத்தை அளிக்கலாம் அல்லது அனுப்பலாம்.
- திருமணம் எங்கு நடைபெற்றதோ அந்த எல்லைக்குட்பட்ட பதிவு அலுவலகங்களில் திருமணத்தை பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும்.
- குறிப்பாவணத்துடன பின்வரும் ஆவணங்களை இணைத்து அனுப்ப வேண்டும். அவையாவன:
- a. பின்வரும் ஆவணங்களில் ஏதாவது ஒன்று:
i) இந்திய தேர்தல் ஆணையம் வழங்கிய வாக்காளர் அடையாள அட்டையின் நகல்
ii) கடவுச் சீட்டின் நகல
iii) வருமான வரி துறை வழங்கிய PயுNஃபுஐசு அட்டையின் நகல
iv) குடும்ப அட்டையின் நகல
v) அரசு அல்லது அரசு நிறுவனங்கள் அல்லது உள்ளாட்சி மன்றங்கள் வழங்கிய புகைப்பட அடையாள அட்டையின் நகல்
vi) வங்கிகள் அல்லது அஞ்சல் அலுவலகங்கள் வழங்கிய பற்று வரவுச் சிட்டை (Pயளள டீழழம) நகல் (புகைப்படத்துடன்)
vii) ஓய்வூதிய புத்தகத்தின் நகல்
viii) உடல் ஊனமுற்றோர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட சான்றிதழின் நகல்
ix) துப்பாக்கி உரிம நகல்
x) “சுதந்திர போராட்ட வீரர்களுக்கு” வழங்கிய அடையாள அட்டை நகல், மணமக்களுக்கும், சாட்சிகளுக்கும் தகுதி வாய்ந்த அதிகாரி வழங்கிய அடையாள அட்டை
b. பின்வரும் ஆவணங்களில் ஏதாவது ஒன்று:
i) பிறப்புச் சான்றிதழின் நகல்
ii) பள்ளிஃகல்லூரியை விட்டுச் செல்லும்போது அளிக்கப்படும் சான்றிதழ்
iii) மணமக்களின் வயதை உறுதிப்படுத்தும் ஆதாரம்
c. திருமண அழைப்பிதழ் அல்லது திருமணம் நடைபெறும் இடத்தை குறிப்பிடும் ஏனைய ஆதாரதம்.
