Brief History:
In 1863 Coonoor was separated from Wellington, with Kotagiri and Metupalayam as its substations. Fr. De Gelis took charge of the new parish. He bought a beautiful site on which the present church stands. A portion of the land named Rocklands was later sold to the Government for the construction of the Lawley Hospital. In 1867 he constructed the church. Fr. Bechu and Fr. Petit extended the two wings of the church and Fr. Vieillard built the two beautiful spires in 1910-1911.

Brief History:
Alwarpet formed a part of the parish of St. Antony's Coonoor. It was bifurcated and canonically erected a new parish on the feast of Pentecost, 2nd June 1963. The first parish priest of St. Joseph's Parish was Most Rev. Dr. Aruldas James, the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore.

Brief History :
Mount Pleasant was a part of St. Antony’s Parish, Coonoor. This was the first church constructed after the creation of the new diocese of Ootacamund. Until this parish was inaugurated the Catholics of this area were attending mass at the semi-public chapel of St. Joseph's College that enjoyed the benefit of its own Chaplain. To help the Catholics of this area, this new parish was started in 1981. On 2nd January, 2000 the newly constructed church by Rev. Fr. Cyril Lazarus was blessed and consecrated by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Antony Anandarayar.

Brief History :
was formerly known as Jackattala which became a separate parish in 1865 with Coonoor, Kotagiri and Mettupalayam as its substations. There were 1,100 Catholics. Until 1859 military troops used to come there for rest and convalescence. It was only in 1859 that it became a full fledged military station. To cater to the spiritual needs of the catholic military soldiers and the faithful of that area Fr. Joseph Louis Ravel constructed the first church in 1864. He was the founder of the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.

Brief History :
Since 1967 this area was part of Holy Spirit Parish, Aruvankadu. As the residents of this area found it very difficult to go there due to the distance, a new location with a house was found close by known as Boys' Company where liturgical celebrations were conducted. On April 14, 1977, it was erected into a new parish and dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health. By a letter dated April 27th, 1967, Bishop Padiyara established a Diocesan Catechetical, Audio-visual Centre at Aruvankadu. The main work of this Centre was to announce the Good News through catechetics, film-shows, catholic literature, etc. It was built with the aid given by the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith, Rome and was inaugurated by the Pro-Nuncio, Most Rev J. Caprio, on May 12th 1968. Brief History :

Gudin volunteered to work among the Badagas, and he was followed by Fr Foubert in 1916, and it was during his time in 1922 that Ketti was raised to the status of a parish. Fr. Selas was a sub-station of St. Antony's Parish, Coonoor till 1948. It was in 1948 that Selas became a separate parish with Fr. Reynaud de Prigny as its first parish priest. Until 1955 the sacristy of the church was used by the parish priest as his residence. It was in 1955 that a rectory was constructed by Fr. A. Stanislaus. He also started a primary school in 1956 which was raised to a middle school in 1959 and acquired recognition as a High School in 1964. In 1963 the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny opened a dispensary and took up educational ministry in Selas.

St. Marys Church, Kotagiri Brief History : The old church at Kotagiri was built in 1867, on a piece of land belonging to Mr. Redmond, in honour of the Nativity of our Lady. It soon became a popular place of pilgrimage where people of all creeds, especially the Badagas pray to the Holy Mother of God under the title of Arokia Matha. In 1937 the church was extended by Fr. Morin. In 1940 a grotto of our Lady of Lourdes was constructed by Fr. Gentinne. Later since it has become a pilgrim center for all the religion and as the number of Catholics was increased Fr. St. Antonys Church, Shollurmattam Brief History : Shollurmattam was part of St. Mary's Parish, Kotagiri. It became an independent parish on 3rd June, 1963. Fr. Angelo Devadoss, O.F.M., was its first parish priest. The present church was built by Rev. Fr. Nouet and blessed by Bishop Padiyara on 13th June, 1966. For some time, this parish was under the care of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The bell-tower and the parish hall were put up by Fr. N. A. Joseph, S.D.B.
