Holy Spirit Church, Aruvankadu
Brief History :
By a letter dated April 27th, 1967, Bishop Padiyara established a Diocesan Catechetical, Audio-visual Centre at Aruvankadu. The main work of this Centre was to announce the Good News through catechetics, film-shows, catholic literature, etc. It was built with the aid given by the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith, Rome and was inaugurated by the Pro-Nuncio, Most Rev J. Caprio, on May 12th 1968. In the meantime, Holy Spirit Parish, Aruvankadu, which was formerly a part of St. Joseph’s Parish, Wellington, was made a separate parish on August 1st, 1967. A colony of houses was built and a small dispensary was started in August 1968. Hospitaller Sisters were in charge of the dispensary. Later the Diocesan Catechetical Centre was shifted to St. Mary’s Hill, which was blessed and inaugurated on 13th September 1990, which is now called as Arulagam
